Variation 1: Focus on the typing

repetitive, clicking, tapping, press and release, sticking, popping

Variation2: How the sounds interact

they repeat, their rate changes repeating quickly and then pausing briefly, deliberate, methodic

Summary: I listened to the sounds around me in the computer center attempting focus in on one specific sound. I settled on the sound of someone typing across the room and attempted to define the individual characteristics of what I was listening to. It was someimes difficult to tune out the squealing of a chair or the clicking of a mouse, or the sniffle of somebodies nose. Distinguishing between sounds is difficult to do without seeing the source in an environment where there is sound coming from all over. This exercise really made it clear what we already discussed in class: there is no such thing as silence.
